Join the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati Mini-Heart Team
The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati has a team participating at the 35th Annual Heart Mini-Marathon. For joining the team, you get access to the club’s Heart Mini Suite where you can put your stuff and no need to share bathrooms with 20,000 participants. You can sign up to be part of the team at this year's (March 18th) run/walk events by identifying yourself as part of Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati while registering. You can also join from our team page. If filling out a paper form indicate Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati as your team. If we have at least 25 members by February 11, the Runners’ Club logo can appear on the back of the t-shirts. Cost of the HMM is $40 and $55 for the Heart Half Marathon. The 15k and Half Marathon begin at 7:45 AM this year and the 5k begins at a later time.
The club needs about 5 volunteers to help with Packet Pickup for the Valentine's Labor of Love 2 Mile on Saturday February 11 from 11:30 AM - 2:15 pm. For your efforts, you get the 2012 Valentine's Shirt plus a few other goodies. If you can help out, contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or sign-up using our online registration form.
The club needs about 5 volunteers to help with the finish line and oversee registration for the Valentine's Labor of Love 2 Mile on Sunday February 12. It will last about a couple of hours. For your efforts, you get free Pizza plus a few other goodies. If you can help out, contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or sign-up using our online registration form.
The club needs 2 at large trustees, a Vice President, and a Secretary to serve on the board for the upcoming year. If you would like to fill one of these positions, let us know at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com. Terms for these positions are typically 1 year. You just need to attend the monthly board meeting and maybe give 3-4 hours a month of your time to help promote running in the Cincinnati area. If you can fill one of these vital positions, please let us know. You do need to be 18 and a member in good standing(dues paid for 2012).
Currently, we have several openings for keeping the club running on an ongoing basis: Social Chair, Membership Chair, Program Chair, Race Team Captain and Database Manager. Most positions take 1-2 hours a week of your time. If you can or would like to fulfill one of these positions, please send an email to cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or attend the next board meeting on February 1.
Have you ever wondered what it takes to put together a race? Do you have an idea for a race, but do not know how to get started with putting it together? The club currently has race committee for 2012 that meets at the Starbucks in Rookwood Pavilion to plan races for 2012. The next meeting will be on Monday January 23, 2012 at 6:30 PM. If you can not make the meeting, but are interested, send us an email at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com.
Due to personal reasons, Terry Elliott stepped down as Club President. As a result, Gina Meyers has agreed to serve as Club President for the immediate future.
Gina has been a member of the club since 2009 and a member of the board since 2010 where she served as the Club Secretary and currently is the Club Vice President.
She has been involved in most club activities either as a participant or a volunteer. She spearheaded the Six Week Summer Speed Program and was race director for 2011 Midsummer Night's Trail Run. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or want to wish Gina good luck in her new position, please send them to meyersgm@yahoo.com or cincinnatirunning@gmail.com and she will answer them as quickly as she can.
